Ballot boxes disappeared in Sumy

More than 250 ballot boxes are missing at polling stations of Sumy. According to observers, if the shortage was discovered on the day of the election, this could lead to a serious scandal.

As was announced at the daily briefing in the City Hall on October 15, about a quarter of a thousand of ballot boxes are missing at polling stations of Sumy. Thus, 102 ballot boxes are lacking in Kovpakovsky district and 151 - in Zarechny. Let us recall, in total there are 133 polling stations in Sumy. Kovpakovsky district and a part of Zarechny district of Sumy belong to the constituency № 157, and the rest of Zarechny District – to the constituency № 158.

"We appealed to the Central Election Commission with a request to supply us with the missing ballot boxes ", - informed the Manager of Administrative Department of the executive committee Viktor Volontyrets. – "Hopefully, they will put the ballot boxes before the voting day".

Representatives of the International organization for election observation CIS-EMO, which monitors the electoral process in Ukraine, are satisfied with the timely detection of the problems. "If the lack of these 250 ballot boxes was revealed on the day of elections to the Supreme Council of Ukraine or the day before it, this could lead to a serious scandal, because the ballot boxes are not manufactured locally, but are centrally distributed by the Central Election Commission", - says Chief Scientific Consultant of CIS-EMO Stanislav Byshok.
