Stanislav Byshok, biography

Stanislav Byshok is executive director at the International Monitoring Organization CIS-EMO, expert in the Public Diplomacy Foundation, member of the Editorial Board of the francophone magazine Méthode, author of several books and expert reports on current Russian, Ukrainian and European politics, as well as a Euroscepticism scholar. He also performs a lecture course on Euroscepticism at the Faculty of Political Science of Moscow State University.

Born in Moscow, 1984, graduated from the neuro- and pathopsychology department of the Lomonosov Moscow State University psychology department, where, further on, he also did the postgraduate studies. The thesis theme – self-awareness and insight research in psychological disorders.

In 2006-2012 worked at the psychology faculty of the Moscow University of economics, politics and law (MIEPL), teaching differential psychology, abnormal psychology, psychology of religion and psychohygiene. 

Since 2012 works at the International Monitoring Organization CIS-EMO (he was assigned executive director in December, 2018), and as expert in the Public Diplomacy Foundation

As an international observer participated in the long-term monitoring at the Verkhovna Rada (Supreme Council of the Ukraine) elections in 2012, as well as in by-elections in Kiev in 2013. 

In April - June 2013 conducted a number of presentations for the book "Illusion of freedom: Where are the new Banderivtsi driving the Ukraine" in some Ukrainian cities (Kiev, Mykolaiv, Odessa, Zaporizhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Simferopol, Sevastopol).

In May - October 2014 conducted a number of presentations for the book “Neonazis & Euromaidan: From Democracy to Dictatorship” in a number of European capitals (Berlin, Paris, Warsaw, Athens) as well as in the European Parliament (Brussels).

In August 2015 was covering the crisis in France caused by illegal immigration from Africa and the Middle East.

September 2015: Co-organized and co-chaired an international forum, “Russophobia and information war against Russia,” in Moscow.

Since September 2015 has been barred from entering the Schengen zone states due to the order issued by Lithuanian authorities. 

April 12, 2016: Delivered a lecture on the history and contemporary state of Russian-Ukrainian relations at Brown University (Providence, RI, USA).

November 8-12, 2016: Co-chaired a series of events in Minsk (Belarus) organized by Rossotrudnichestvo (Federal agency for the CIS issues, Compatriots leaving abroad and for the international humanitarian cooperation) and dedicated to a wide range of topics, from countering the WWII history revisionism to the future of Russian-Belarusian relations.

April 24, 2017: Co-organized a youth international forum “The common cultural heritage of Russia and Belarus” in Smolensk.

June 16-17, 2017: Took part in the international expert roundtable “Russia – Serbia – Western Balkans” in Belgrade (Serbia) organized by the Forum for Ethnic Relations (Forum za Etničke Odnose).

June 22, 2017: Co-organized and co-chaired an international roundtable, “Russia and Europe: Cooperation not confrontation,” in Moscow. Among its principal speakers were a vice-mayor of Vienna and a Russian Communist party MP.  

October 30 - November 3, 2017: Took part as a key speaker at the international youth forum "XXI century leader" organized by the Young Rus in Minsk, Belarus.

March 18, 2018: Coordinated a 25-strong international observation mission organized by the CIS-EMO during the Presidential elections in Russia. The mission consisted of the representatives of the UK, China, France, India, Italy, Egypt, Bulgaria, and Poland.

April 26, 2018: Delivered a lecture "New ideological currents in post-Soviet space and the West" at the conference "Patriotic upbringing in educational organizations: experience, problems, and prospects" (State Socio-Humanitarian University, Kolomna, Moscow region).

May 28, 2018: Delivered a lecture "Ten theses on Euroscepticism" at the round-table "European right-conservative front: main actors, strategies, perspectives" organized by the International Eurasian Movement (Moscow).

July 11, 2018. Delivered a lecture "On old & new national identities in post-Soviet states: a case of Ukraine" at Matica srpska (Novi Sad, Serbia) at the behest of the Insutute of European Studies (Belgrade).

July 12, 2018. Delivered a lecture on history, ideology and prospects of right-wing Euroscepticism at the Institute of European Studies (Belgrade, Serbia).

July 17, 2018. Chaired a constituent convention of the Civil Initiative "Unity" (Soyuz), a joint Russian-Belorussian non-partisan organization dedicated to further integration of the two states (Vitebsk, the Republic of Belarus).

September 17, 2018. Chaired the second convention of the Civil Initiative "Unity" (Grodno, the Republic of Belarus).

October 13, 2018. Delivered a speech at the international scientific and educational forum "The art of negotiations, debates and public speaking in multicultural environment" (Arkhyz, the Karachai-Cherkess Republic).

November 14, 2018. Moderated an expert roundtable dedicated to social & cultural aspects of Russian-Belorussian integration at the conference of municipal deputies of the contiguous regions of the Russian Federation & the Republic of Belarus (Bryansk).

February 24, 2019. Monitored the parliamentary elections in the Republic of Moldova as a shirt-term observer for the OSCE ODIHR.

March 22, 2019. Delivered a presentation "Europe's right turn & Russia" at a conference at the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (RUDN), Moscow.

Stanislav Byshok has been a frequent guest to conferences of the Organization for Co-Operation in Europe (OSCE) and the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) in Warsaw and Vienna, and to other international forums.
